Siem Reap .....last stop and I am ready for home diespite the bad weather there! Today they have templed me out and I have to say Angkor Wat wasn't the wow factor I had hoped for but I have seen a LOT of temples!! Gadventures has been fabulous! First class!
Cambodia is a bit of a come down after Vietnam. Poorer, dirtier with a real sense that the government is creaming it off whilst the man on the street really struggles to make a living. Visited the killing fields and the prison where the Kamer Rough detained their prisons. It was very gruelling.. Not for the fainted hearted and I am afraid I am one of the faint hearted!! I found it most distressing.
Well what can I say.. This trip was an optional extra and what a great day!! We sailed down the Mekong river, visited a bee farm, a coconut sweet factory. Went on a rather bizarre tucktuck and a rowing boat all before a fabulous lunch!!
Not for the fainted hearted... A guided tour of Cu Chi Tunnels, a complex network of tunnels that the Viet Cong lived in to protect themselves from opposing forces. You could see the vicious traps the used to trap and slow the enemy!!
A delightful break from the hustle and bussel of the city in Ha Long Bay. Ha Long Bay is one of the seven natural wonders of the world and it was just stunning. Well there's more than one way to relax!!!
Hanoi ... The craziest, maddest place I have ever been in!! Makes Bangkok look like a walk in an English country garden!! Well may be not quite. But there are scooters upon scooters and to get across the road you just walk in front of them and hope the swerve around you!! I have to say this Gadventure tour is absolutely fab I would really recommended it!! We have seen and eaten things we wouldn't have done if our tour guide hadn't gone the extra mile!!Yesterday we visited Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, a golden Buddhist temple outside of Chiang Mai on the Mt Doi Suthep. Just stunning. Today we unashamedly lay by the pool whilst the rest of the group opted in to various more energetic activities. This afternoon we went to a family home for dinner. We were shown around the houses and the highlight being the herb garden or to me and you the jungle out the back!! The meal was just great. The group and the group leader are fantastic. Tomorrow Laos!!
